Executive Editor: Patty Edu

Patty is the executive editor/president of the paper. In other words, she is the final student to edit the paper and she passes it along to Ms. Schwartz who looks over the paper and then to Ms. P. She later on makes final changes to the edited copy and the paper is then passed along to the printing company. She is responsible of handling the invoices recieved once the paper is printed. Aside from her usual routine described above, Patty attends Panther Presss Development meetings to relay information between the Production and Development teams. On behalf of the Panther Press crew, she hopes to improve quality and diversity of the articles as well as to establish a stronger connection between VP students/community and the paper to meet the demands of all the different students in Vic Park. A grade 12 student, Patty started out working for the Panther Press as a writer in grade 10. She then became editor of News and Events in grade 11 before finally becoming the President. According to her, she currently spends her last year at VP juggling between her academic life and extra curriculars. (She is also a co-leader in ESP.) Patty’s favorite quote right now is "Kindess is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear", which she heard at an awards show and it became her motto since then.

Copy Editor: Soundarya Selvam

Soundarya Selvam is a grade 12 IB student working for the Panther Press as the copy editor. As an important part of her job, she puts the entire paper together (going through the paper and fixing layout aspects inaddition to ensuring that the paper is complete) and making sure that the paper looks good before it hits the printers. Her aspiration this year is to help to make the paper “a monthly part of life at VP”. Apart from her school life, Soundarya is a black belt in karate and she has completed a biology course at Harvard this past summer.

Executive Secretary: Josephine Tay

Her job in the Panther Press as the executive secretary is to take notes during meetings and to help keep track of deadlines. She also helps updating people on what happening during the meetings when they can't make it so that everyone remains informed on what's happening with our newspaper. Although she does not have a specific section, she feels that having a secretary is important because it keeps everything organized and it helps with communication between the various section editors and other executives. This year, she hopes to to help with the transitioning because most the executives and section editors are grade twelves. “Therefore,” she remarks, “it's going to take a lot of organizing and training to make sure that we have a strong group of students taking over and running the production of the newspaper next year.” Josephine is a grade 12 IB student who joined the Panther Press in grade nine as a photographer and became the junior secretary in grade ten before taking on her current role.
