Principal's Message

Diana Panagiotopoulos
Principal of Victoria Park C.I.

Victoria Park C.I. opened its doors to students in 1960. Since then VP has established a tradition of academic excellence. We have approximately 1400 students who are involved in many facets of the school.

I am frequently asked what makes Victoria Park C.I. such a great school. The answer is quite simple—our teachers and our 1400 students.

Victoria Park teachers are dedicated to each student and are focused on their success. We have high expectations for all students and support them in their academic and co-curricular pursuits. Throughout their high-school years, we encourage our students to develop their critical thinking skills, become environmentally aware, technologically prepared and responsible compassionate global citizens.

And, a question for student... can you imagine yourself:

  • solving complex computer problems
  • participating on a school sports team
  • delving into historical events
  • building a wall in a village in Costa Rica
  • visiting sites in New York on an Arts trip
  • mastering a second or third language?

In the last year, these are just a few of the opportunities Victoria Park C.I. students experienced!

Our students have the option of taking music, visual art, drama, auto, computers, wood-working/carpentry, dance, co-op, business, physical education and French. These are just some of the options available in addition to our core courses in English, Science, Mathematics, and the Social Sciences.

We were the first publicly-funded school in Ontario to offer the International Baccalaureate program and our students consistently rank in the top 5% of the world’s IB students. Universities around the world recognize the IB diploma. This program is for highly motivated academic students who, upon successful completion of the program, can receive up to three first-year university credits.

At Victoria Park C.I., teachers work closely with our students and their families. We encourage parents and guardians to become members of our School Council and to share their ideas. We are lucky to have a School Council that is very supportive.

I am privileged to be the principal at Victoria Park C.I., a school where we help students pursue their dreams with determination and perseverance.

I invite you to find out more about the wonderful school community at Victoria Park C.I.
